Vessels Feminina

In my series Vessels Feminina, I combine the beauty of the feminine form with the wonder of flowers, both delicate and sensual while remarkably strong and resilient. My illustrations express my desire for unity among all women, to serve as vessels of love and care for each other and our shared home in nature. Women are the primary stewards of the earth, and each artwork characterizes a protector of our beautiful environments and their unique natural elements. They share a duality of softness and delicateness while inherently fierce and persistent, the qualities needed to preserve our land, air, and water.

This series is dedicated to my mother, who has always shown me the beauty of kindness and laughter. And, to my godmother, Ann Crombie, a remarkable abstract expressionist artist, who lived in and painted the land of Taos, New Mexico. Around her adobe home, she planted a tree farm, a fertile habitat; she exemplified a steward of the earth.
