The existential idea of heading west conjures up the human desire to pull up stakes and search for a better life, to explore and venture into the unknown to carve a new path. It’s what the West Coast of America, particularly California, commonly represents. I live in California and am simply in love with it. I love the spirit of the place and the magnificence of the land and sea. This piece is an homage to all women who have immigrated, relocated, or moved to the other side of town to better their lives and those of their loved ones. The California poppy and its bright yellow petals are signals of hope: when you see them pop up through dunes, deserts, or sidewalks, they’re like nature gifting you with an encouraging smile.
This digitally-illustrated fine art Giclée print is printed with 11 inks for ultra-rich color and printed on archival paper with an archival life of 80+ years.
The gorgeous, smooth cotton-based paper, Hahnemühle Photorag, has a matte finish and allows for muted blacks, excellent detail, an even color reproduction, and vibrant color gradients. I equate the texture and color to rich velvet.
This fine art print is available in three sizes:
12 x 18 in / 30 x 46 cm
16 x 24 in / 41 x 61 cm
24 x 36 in / 61 x 91 cm
Each size has a white border to allow for framing with or without a matte. My digital signature has been printed in the lower right border area.
